Watch Out Chicago Marathon, Here Comes Dr. Curalli!

Dr. Dominick Curalli is once again gearing up to run 26.2 miles in support of Team CdLS! As most of us get ready for a somewhat easier schedule over the summer months, Dr. Curalli is up in the early hours running through the Seattle streets in preparation for the big day. This fall instead of running the streets of New York, he will be pounding the pavement of Chicago in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 9, 2016.

Team CdLS – Dr. Curalli’s Passion:

What drives someone to train to run 26.2 miles? For Dr. Curalli, it is the CdLS Foundation. As many of you know, Dr. Curalli’s son Dane was born in December of 2012 with a rare disorder called Cornella De Lange Syndrome. This changed the landscape of this family’s life as they struggled to learn what would be needed to help Dane breath, eat, sleep and function on a day to day basis.

The Curalli’s have often stated that they have no idea what they would have done, particularly in the first few scary months, without the support of the CdLS Foundation. You can read more about the unique challenges faced by those with this syndrome and the support that the CdLS Foundation offers the families such as the Curalli’s here.

What is Involved in Training for a Marathon?

Like all of us, Dr. Curalli is a busy man. With a family of 2 growing boys and a full schedule of T-ball, soccer and swim lessons, not to mention a growing business, he has a tight schedule for training.

Right now his schedule includes:

  • Early morning 5 mile runs four times during the week
  • Longer runs on the weekend as he build his endurance
  • Gatorade and protein smoothies for energy

He will be averaging 50 miles a week in training runs by the end of the summer. Keep up the great work Dr. Curalli, we are all cheering you on!

How Can You Help?

Dr. Curalli and his family have received wonderful support from the CdLS Foundation over the last few years as they navigate the special needs of Dane. Donations made to this fundraiser go directly to support this foundation so families like the Curalli’s and others can get the critical help they need to create beautiful lives for their special children.
